Investment/M&A activities:

  • IFC mulls $38m investment in VN engineering solutions firm DDC: The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is considering a quasi-equity investment of up to VND1,000 billion (approximately USD38 million) in Dai Dung Metallic Manufacture Construction and Trade Corporation (DDC), a leading Vietnamese provider of mechanical engineering solutions. The funding will support the construction of two new factories in Ho Chi Minh City and Thanh Hoa, part of a USD152 million expansion plan that includes capex and working capital. IFC views the investment as a strategic move to boost Vietnam’s competitiveness in producing large-scale structures and delivering complex engineering services. Read more here.

  • Astra buys additional stake in Hermina hospital for $164m: Indonesian conglomerate PT Astra International has acquired an additional 12.77% stake in hospital operator PT Medikaloka Hermina for USD164 million through its healthcare unit, Astra Healthcare Indonesia, bringing its total holding to 20%. The move reinforces Astra’s strategic pivot beyond its core automotive business into healthcare, investing in platforms like Halodoc and Heartology. Hermina, which operates 51 hospitals across 36 cities with a focus on women’s and children’s care, is expanding with two new facilities in Bali and Central Java. Read more here.

  • MTN in talks to build AI data centres across Africa: MTN Group is in advanced talks with U.S. and European partners to co-invest in AI-focused data centres across Africa, aiming to address the continent’s minimal share—just 1%—of global AI infrastructure capacity. The initiative, led by MTN’s specialist unit Genova, includes a USD240 million facility underway in Nigeria and plans to lease compute capacity to businesses continent-wide.
